For many Christians, communion is one of the most sacred aspects of their religion and an important religious tradition. You may be familiar with some communion scripture, or perhaps you've shopped for a first communion gift for a family member. However, it’s helpful to know the exact definition of the occasion, especially if you’re new to Christianity or Catholicism in particular. By definition, communion is the moment during a worship service in which bread and wine are consecrated and shared. This means the bread and wine is meant to represent the body and blood of Christ; in some denominations, it is believed that in this moment the bread and wine are literally made into the body and blood of Christ. In Catholicism, holy first communion traditions are a big part of becoming an adult within the church.

Though inspirational Bible verses or Bible verses about marriage may be more popular and commonly known than Bible verses about communion, there are still quite a few references to consecration, communion, and the body and blood of Christ in the Bible. If you’re looking to reflect on communion and the sacrifice of Christ, or you’re hoping to share some scripture about communion with your child as they prepare to celebrate their first communion, here are 25 communion Bible verses that reflect on just that.
